Williams, Carl

Carl Williams has been a developer in the Solaris networking group since 1992. Since 1995 he has been working on IPv6 and currently serves as the project lead for the Solaris Mobile IP/Mobile IPv6 project team. Carl worked on Solaris IPv6 prototypes releases and Solaris 8 IPv6 as well as participated in the IETF basic and advanced socket API drafts. He helped write the IPv6 Socket Scrubber tool for use in porting socket code to IPv6.

Carl has been involved with the organization of interoperability testing events for IPv6 and Mobile IP/Mobile IPv6. At Connectathon 2000 he organized a roundtable on IPv6 wireless issues and attended the 3GPP IPv6 meeting for the IPv6 Forum Technical Directorate in Nice France this past April.

Prior to joining Sun Microsystems, Carl served a 2 year appointment as a Research Associate with the Research Institute for Advanced Computer Science (RIACS) at the NASA Ames Research Center. He also was previously employed at Digital Equipment Corporation (Maynard), Hewlett-Packard Corporation, and Firestone Research Laboratories. He also taught operating system and networking courses at Kent State University, Akron University and San Jose State University.
